I'm glad Alex was able to experience a wonderful American sport. I've been preaching about the joys of American football, especially the college game, for years to my European friends, but it really is something that has to be experienced to be understood.

Okay, I rooted for the Sri Lankan team in the '96 world cup, not much else going on on Star Sports in Kuwait that summer. Having a number of favorites forfeit their matches to be played in Sri Lanka because of the tamil 'troubles' obviously helped the SL team get to the final, but they earned that win. And I'm probably the only person in SW Oklahoma that doesn't think 'fish bait' when he hears the word cricket...

College football is boring as hell. I'd rather watch the CFL. Actually, all college sports are boring. The only reason to watch college football in the past was because there were no NFL games or other pro sports on TV on Saturday.

Now, with the expansion of real football coverage in the US, I can select from a handful of English Premiership matches each Saturday.

The fact that the matches start at 8am, gives me an excuse to go to the bars before breakfast. With college football you have to wait until at least noon.
